still trying to smooth the transition to the postchorus. experimented with adding 8 bars/4 bars in between but doesn’t feel right. might just need to make small adjustments over time. also added some synth doubling for the keys in the hook, something to add a bit more intensity but don’t want to draw too much attention to it.

touched up the hook beat drop a bit (ty re4 sfx), added the fuzzy pad 8 bars before postchorus. made some slight changes to the vocal chops—have a lot of freedom with these since they are no longer linked to the bass & keys chops. maybe finished soon???

trying a crossfader delayed entry for the drums when the hook comes in. a couple more reverse pad clips for texture. second half of the hook vocal chops are mixed with some gate effects. probably don’t want to get more hectic than that. transition to the postchorus might still be too jarring. might need some more space, some kind of unmetered feel.

drew some more automation lines on the fuzzy pad hpf in the intro just to make some space for the other elements and make it more dynamic. used a bit of ping pong delay to taper the sudden filter sweeps. trying to smooth out the wshwshwsh stuff in the post-chorus, i could do a similar technique to what i did in SME, bouncing it to audio then running it through a granulizer a bunch of times and stitching it all

might be a little overboard at this point with the fuzzy pad in the opening. im mostly focused on texture and transitions right now, feels like the raw material is there but needs to be arranged and tidied up. at the moment things still feel a little rough (like the LP filter drop before the hook), and i feel like i can hear the cut and paste of the ambient coda. but the roughness is also kind of the point
